Dwellings 207 purchase and 416 rental have been built on the Landtong, a peninsula between the Entrepot area and the Wilhelmina pier on the Kop van Zuid. The high entrance halls, a creche, 1000 m2 of commercial space and a sports club with six tennis courts on one of the inner courtyards are located in the corners and in the bases.

It seeks the integration of all possible types in a block, to achieve the vitality of a neighbourhood. The aim is for diversity. Three different typologies on a retail, offices and nursery base have been superimposed.

Drawing by a+t research group. Published in the book Why Density?

This work of collective housing by the architects S333 is a project with multi-layers based on the program and the urban landscape. CiBoGa is a hybrid comprising three uses: residential, retail and parking. There are four types of units: row housing, apartment with vertical circulation core access, apartment with access through shared communal space and high-rise apartment with access through glazed galleries. One of the floors of the former telegraph building by Ivan Rerberg, 1927, has been converted to a shared workplace by Archiproba. The original concrete porticoes, with a height of 7 m between floor slabs, serve to organize the space which is well-lit by the 5.9 m high x 4.5 m wide openings. The coworking programme is combined in a leased activity area where all the elements are reconfigurable. The curtains, made of noise absorbent materials, divide off the different uses when necessary. The Mirador building by MVRDV & Blanca Lleó contains an extensive patchwork of situations and dwelling types in order to lodge the contemporary diversity and individuality. It’s about integrating different lifestyles. The large lookout point gives a privileged public space and also a global identity.

The intervention by Andrea Oliva in this early 20th century industrial unit is based on preserving that found, restoring this with no alterations –as far as possible– to the effects of time and introducing new uses, such as offices, with volumes which colonize the space by stacking them up on one of the sides. The 3D module strategy makes it possible to concentrate the free space and apply selective HVAC instead of trying to implement a general atmosphere for the whole unit. A.

Refurbishing this office furniture company, whose beginnings date back to the 1940s, involved an overhaul of the two existing L-shaped units which make up the operations floor. These are two interconnected structures with their main access through the intermediate level of this three-storey unit. On this level we have the reception area, the meeting rooms and an open-plan office. The lower level mainly houses the furniture showroom located in an adjoining unit. The upper level contains the management area and the representative and socializing area.
