The insertion of the new building by OMA is an operation aimed at the intensive densification of the administrative centre of Rotterdam. The new building, which replaces a late 1970s office building, adds other residential uses and amenities, such as the new Museum Rotterdam. The formal principle is based on the adoption of the 3.6 m module. This is a standard size in the construction industry, being a multiple of both 20 and 30 cm, standard sizes that can be used as the basis for many construction elements.
