Amann Cánovas Maruri presents a four tower complex of collective housing, which is located on a triangular plot linking two avenues. Fragmenting the two volumes and moving the building bays along the axis of the central corridor, enhances the insertion of the volumes into the limited surface area of the plot and maximizes to the full the views from the dwellings. As far as the perception from the exterior is concerned, the fa.

"I would like to address the subject by framing the question [Organization or Design?] as ‘organization and design’, so that it takes into account people, process and products.

PEOPLE At the beginning, one of the first impulses of the practice was to depart from pre-formed ideas of what engineers do. We were very conscientious to set a scene and communicate a culture, one which still exists in the organization today. “People, product, profit” is one of our off.

The courtyard-house by Tania Concko Architects & Urbanists is characterized by a large central free space around which the units are laid out. In this case the bay is protected, both on the interior and on the exterior, by intermediate spaces -the access galleries in the courtyard and the private galleries on the facade. These spaces act as heat regulators. The site falls within the Terres Neuves Regenerat.

"We inhabit the world through patterns of organization. We recognize and design them in order to arrange every aspect of the built environment: natural geological patterns of fluvial sedimentation and erosion, street layouts and block configurations, productive agricultural landscapes, meandering paths through parks, property boundaries and city lots, glass curtain walls, office layouts, cemeteries, bricks... Patterns of organization are the result of both our conceptions (cultural, artistic,.

This hall of residence for UCLA students and professors is inserted into a sloping wedge-shaped plot facing the Strathmore Apartments, Richard Neutra,1937, in Los Angeles. The constraints of the site mean the volume must be fragmented in order to adapt to the different levels of the site straddling Strathmore Drive and Levering Avenue. The solution adopted by Lorcan O'Herlihy involves creating an interior street which divides the initial triangular volume into two strips with each one running parallel to the two streets bordering the plot.

"Organization: what an inexhaustible concept, both challenging and charismatic! If the notion of design, critically downgraded to a shortsighted mode of architectural practice, has come to imply the understanding of architecture as an act of embellishment and competence, characterized by immediacy and effectiveness, and driven to make the–human–environment agreeable, visually pleasant, and mild, to make it perform predictably under allegedly good intentions, domesticating what we .

This building by Bruther forms part of a project for a complex of 50 dwellings in Limeil-Brévannes. The selected block houses 33 affordable-rent residential units. The other building is located on the north-east edge of the plot. In order to adapt to the plot, the linear volume is broken into three segments. The layout runs north to south, meaning most of the dwellings are east-west facing. At the same time it withdraws from the neighbouring park and the green space is allowed to exten.

“INVENTION

I will speak about Organization or Design? from the standpoint of an inventor, by considering the process of invention itself. As the brief asks: What is a design approach that relies on systematic processes and scientific methods as compared to, or contrasted with, one that focuses on issues of subjectivity and creativity? I see invention as a midpoint on the spectrum of creativity –located precisely between the objective and the expressive, between art and sci.
