Authors: De Vylder Vinck Taillieu and Trice Hofkens in collaboration with Bert Van Boxelaere architect.
Converting this farmyard into a dwelling meant natural light needed to be brought to the interior. The initial approach could have been to see the roof as a lid and to fit windows by slightly raising this lid to let us see what was going on inside. The final solution involved using basic construction techniques to fit large zinc boxes positioned with different inclinations according to the view. These are internally clad with Okoume wood panels. On the ground floor, a large window brings light to the main room and links the two wings of the building. The interior walls have also been perforated to enhance the spatial perception and the sight lines between rooms.
