Studio Associato Secchi-Viganò. Theater Square. Antwerp. Belgium
January 06, 2012
The Theatre Square was an enormous undefined space in the centre of Antwerp which was not frequented often. Despite its strategic location, the lack of legibility was causing the users to hurry off after the shows. The proposal is based on linking up small legible friendly and safe spaces to bring back the public. For this reason the site has been divided into four recognizable areas: a garden on the south side, a tree-lined walk, a service street and a covered square which works for all types of uses, as an anteroom for the theatre before each show and as a market once a week.
