Paredes Pino. Open Center for Public Activities. Cordoba. Spain
January 05, 2012
The project replaces a recently-built square which had no appeal whatsoever. Now, the parasols shelter a protected space for leisure activities and a twiceweekly market. Furthermore, the place serves as an anteroom for the new hospital which is being built on the adjacent site. The coverings are dealt with using light metal elements, of different diameters and variable heights, allowing light to reflect onto the white-coloured lower sides. The ground plan is handled using a uniform surface area of coloured cobblestones onto which some of the possible activities which the place invites one to do are marked out in paint.
