Martín Lejárraga. Torre-Pacheco Library Square. Murcia. Spain
January 25, 2012
This project, by adding multifunctionality to the traditional programme of a library, proposes new ways of approaching reading. An outdoor reading patio, a night study area, lecture halls for courses and conferences, and an area for an exhibition hall are added to the usual libraryrooms, completing the city’s cultural opportunities. The intervention also serves to improve the aesthetic standard of its surroundings and takes on the outdoor public space, blurring the limits between park and building. To do this, it brings the library out of its walls and allows free use of the roof as an area of public interaction.
