Atelier Loidl. Gleisdreieck Park. Berlin
Project published in Strategy and Tactics in Public Space
May 18, 2012
This park forms part of the recent network of green spaces built on Berlin downtown voids. Following German reunification there was a need to adapt the infrastructures to the new reality of a city that was no longer divided. The obsolescence of some sections and stations has enabled railway tracks to be occupied by public space, set on plateaus several metres above street level. Here, the existing trees have been preserved as a thick belt sheltering a large clearing, an interior meadow offering multiple uses.
