Margie Ruddick, Wrt, Marpillero Pollack. Queens Plaza. New York
Europan 12 proposes to explore the question of time with a view to making the city more adaptable. One of the sites proposed by the organization is Schiedam (Netherlands).
If you are working on a project for this site, have a look at the project Queens Plaza, by Margie Ruddick Landscaping, Wrt, Marpillero Pollack Architects, in New York.
Long Island City, at the foot of the Queensboro Bridge which links this area with Manhattan, is being gentrified as rents rise in neighbouring Brooklyn. The PS1 arts centre occupied a former state school in the surrounding area in 1976, paving the way towards the reclamation of derelict buildings in the area. Nowadays, creative and IT-related companies are arriving en masse and their presence is completely changing the district. Queens Plaza is a transportation hub where six subway lines (four of them on elevated subway tracks), several bus lines and all the traffic generated from the Queensboro Bridge converge.
