BIG. Scala tower. Copenhagen. Denmark
Europan 12 proposes to explore the question of time with a view to making the city more adaptable. One of the sites proposed by the organization is Gjilan (Kosovo).
If you are working on a project for this site, have a look at the project Scala tower by BIG in Copenhagen (Denmark). The tower embodies the skyscraper’s return to the centre of Copenhagen. This time its base merges into the urban grid, allowing pedestrian routes from adjoining streets to extend over its terraced roof. Public uses (including a municipal library) are located at the base, under the pedestrian roof, whereas the private programme of offices and a hotel take up the inside of the tower, except for the observation deck on the top floor. The project foresees public and private funding: public uses are paid for by the City and the rest of the programme by private investors.
