Oppenheim. COR. Miami. United States
March 29, 2011
COR intends to be the first sustainable, mixed-use condominium, representing a dynamic synergy between architecture, structural engineering and ecology. Rising nearly 122 m, this building extracts power from its environment utilizing the latest advancements in wind turbines, photovoltaic cells, and solar hot water generation –while integrating them into its architectural identity. A hyper-efficient exoskeleton shell simultaneously provides building structure, thermal mass for insulation, shading for natural cooling, enclosure for terraces and armatures for turbines. The sustainability concept for COR encompasses multiple strategies, integrated through design, for efficient consumption and production of energy.
Reaching 29 stories over the Design district in Miami –COR will offer expansive residential and professional spaces with versatile and bright interiors. The residential units are composed of duplex units and flats which can be reconfigured for larger residences.
