Under the bridge, in the center, the city is interrupted. It is a small town close to Amsterdam, situated at the start of the river Zaan, that an old highway divides into two halves. The road rises over the river forming a concrete viaduct over the urban scheme. The place is abandoned, invaded by neglect and cars. The growing city needs to bring it back into its fold. A plan was drawn up. The city administration turned to various social groups, asking them to express their wishes. From the ideas put forward, a selection of activities was made that would address the desires of the largest assortment of citizens. Under the bridge, descending towards the river, are corners for lovers, a skating rink, a place for break-dancing, sport courts, a parking lot.
There is a covered plaza with the omnipresent supermarket on the edge and a gallery for graffiti artists. Further on, close to the small jetty, supports and pavements are covered with wood. The water and its reflection are also under the bridge. A panoramic platform looks to the river. Out in the open is a park of small green hills with hollows where one can do barbecues in summer and a cage for playing with a ball.
