In this river traffic control building the envelope is the main feature and the vertical elevations have been fitted with silkscreen printed glass panes. Given the location of the unit, at a central point where canals, streets and vegetation intersect, this choice of silkscreen printing darkens the glass enough to reflect the environment and to blend in with the trees in the background. In addition, the density of the dots printed on the glass increases at slab level and decreases at the visible area between floors, with a progression which does not interfere with the legibility of the facade as a skin only interrupted by the structural silicone. The curvature of the envelope enhances visibility in all directions.
The play on reflectivity is maintained in the horizontal elevations with the water feature which skirts the ground floor and reflects the lower part of the slab which, as it is glazed, in turn reflects the pond.
