This building was inserted into the general plan designed by OMA for Euralille, the expansion of the French city of Lille, in 1994. Within this plan, the plot is located on the Îlot Saint Maurice, developed by Xaveer de Geyter as part of a compact mixed city.
The Euroavenir Tower faces away from the Cimetière de l’Est and towards the bridge which joins the new neighbourhood with the international train station. It boasts visual perspectives from a total of 4 streets, a situation which is used to show off the maximum number of facades, due to its bevelled corners.
While its mission as an urban landmark is accomplished, a generic programme of offices and for rent retail spaces also needed to be integrated into the container.
