This project started with the intention of rescuing the last available land near downtown Seattle from the pressures of real estate, taking an area of abandoned industrial land back for the city. It is fundamentally an open-air public space programme through a route that begins in a multipurpose building.

Although 3% of the park is occupied, the complex work of landscaping, topographic variations, the creation of different areas for art and underground communication and power infrastructures justify its inclusion into civic facilities. This allows artists to place their works and installations at any of the intervention’s areas. This way the programme of a museum can extend beyond its traditional venues, bringing art even to the population’s walkways and establishing new relationships between art, ecology and urban planning.
