Topotek1. Theresienhöhe railway cover. Munich

January 03, 2012

Theresienhöhe is a new neighbourhood close to the centre of Munich, built on the lands of a former trade fair centre which has now been dismantled. The city planning project is a dense group of housing blocks, which needed an open public space to compensate for the few views the compact grid afforded. The space over the train tracks is laid out inspired by rows of carriages. The rubber floored play areas, the fields and the large sandy area adjoin each other on the central strip of the intervention on a man-made landscape of polystyrene blocks.

It is only very recently that this project has been published in a+t 37 Strategy Space. Landscape Urbanism Strategies:

Leaf through Strategy Space. Landscape Urbanism Strategies

The Theresienhöhe urban plan, published in a+t 21 Density III, is available in pdf here (0.99 euro).
