Mrio. Madrid Río. Spain

The road tunnelling of the M-30 motorway on the banks of the Manzanares river through Madrid created a huge scar of 120 hectares in the very centre of the city, less than 600 metres from the Royal palace. This opportunity, not only to cover the scar of this area, but to structure and articulate a much wider area, incorporating solutions that allow new relationships along the river, has been specified by means of an important urbanscale operation.
