Michael Van Valkenburgh. Brooklyn Bridge Park. New York

Author of the video: McGraw Hill
Project published in a+t 37 Strategy Space

In a+t 37 Strategy Space. Landscape Urbanism Strategies we cover the first stage of an ambitious plan to convert the harbour docks of the banks of the East River. 34 hectares in total will have been converted to public space when the works come to an end. To finance these works, part of the land belonging to the park, on which housing and a hotel with the best views of Manhattan will be built, has been put on the market. The existing warehouses will be sold off once recycled and business and cultural concessions will be set up. The end goal of this management model is that the practical whole of the construction project can be financed with private funds.
