The High Line is a 1.2-mile long abandoned elevated freight rail line along the west side of lower Manhattan. The first phase of conversion into a public space celebrated its one-year anniversary open to the public on June the 9th. This section is 0.6 hectares and stretches over 4 city blocks, starting at the southern terminus at the corner of Gansevoort and Washington Streets and extendeing to the Chelsea Market building edge at the north side of 15th Street. It comprises 25% of the total High Line and is currently configured to have a ratio of hard to soft of 52% to 48%.
