Le Monolithe is a compact volume which reproduces the variety of the traditional city, both in terms of form and programme. To this variety of uses within the building (private, social and serviced housing, as well as retail, offices and a hotel) the public space of the interior courtyard has been added. It is accessed by three large public staircases which link it to the street and the public transport network. Inside, the spaces allowed by the structure are as undifferentiated as possible in order to favour, as occurs in the historic city, the uses to be recycled with time.
