De Vylder Vinck Taillieu. House Weze. Aalst. Belgium
December 20, 2013
The same deceptive game used by the architects on the facade is repeated inside the dwelling to divide off the living area and the kitchen. This involves a pivoting door with a vertical axis which on the one hand functions as a bookshelf and on the other hand has smooth timber panelling which blends in with the partition wall. This interior timber wall is exactly the same thickness as the exterior wall. A window with two moving sashes which echoes the facade has also been built into this element, and serves to bring light, through the living area, into this corner of the kitchen which was cut off from the exterior when the respective opening was filled in.
