Using the courtyard of this former factory meant the prior capping of leadcontaminated land in accordance with responsible regeneration criteria, that is avoiding any filtering outside the site. For this reason the elements lie on a 30 cm layer of clean soil. A large central space combining permeable and impermeable flooring is the basis of the circulation elements and functions as an events space. The perimeter is surrounded by bioswales with bridges crossing over them giving access to the site buildings. The bioswales have been planted with species which filter the storm-water.
a+t magazine 39-40, Reclaim, collects some of the actions on the factory, such as:
- Capping and permeability of a contaminated site
- Sheet piles and scrap iron cubes as containing walls
Two pages from the project published in a+t 39-40 Reclaim
