Victor López Cotelo. Caramoniña housing. Santiago de Compostela. Spain
September 06, 2012
Where the old city fades away and the UNESCO-protected zone ends, this exercise of adapting architecture to its context whilst avoiding becoming nostalgic, has been planned. The historic section of Santiago ends at the Santo Domingo de Bonaval Park and behind this starts a 1960s residential fabric lacking in value. Surrounded by the outlines of former vegetable gardens cultivated on the steep slope of a hillside, the complex completes the outline of a block of low-quality housing.
