Parco Dora. Latz + Partner. Turin. Italy

The project takes place on the Dora riverside area. On the banks of this river there used to be iron and steel works, metallurgical plants and tyre factories which have been replaced by a public park. The new landscape comprises five interlinked spaces, each with its own distinct character, which incorporate the existing industrial heritage. Implementing four common layers in the five sites has unified the intervention. Dora Park is the result of superimposing the remains of the industrial past (cooling towers, canals and industrial units); the water courses (the Dora River and the canals built for the industrial processes); the links between the different sites to create a continuous park (bridges over the river and elevated walkways); and the bordering woodlands to mitigate the scale of the neighbouring buildings.
