Kasper Danielsen Architects / Future Systems. Metropolis tower. Copenhagen
September 11, 2010
The residential tower Metropolis is located on a small peninsula in the Copenhagen Harbour. The peninsula called Sluseholmen has in the past been part of the locks regulating Copenhagen Harbour. The lock was closed in 1995, only to be re-opened in 2004, so today it is possible to sail right to the front door of Metropolis. The area has historically been one of primarily industry and factories, but today the area is one of the most progressive residential developments in central Copenhagen. In the last decade about 1100 dwellings has been build on and around Sluseholmen.
