This students’ dormitory takes the idea of the castle as a fortified village, and the form of the castle emblematic of Atlantic College - as a structure that clearly defines and encloses a recognisable flow of spaces and uses. We sited four families of student houses within the existing landscape to define an assortment of gardens and meadows. The new buildings are kinked to accommodate and embrace mature trees, and positioned so that each frames its own striking views. Each has a hard outward-facing facade, offering a  tangible threshold, and a soft inner facade, overlooking the newly defined garden landscape.
