The X-TUproject contributes to regenerating this urban setting, noted for the aggregation of very different scales and types. Both the volumes and the free layout of the openings in the facades echo the accumulation of situations in the context, highlighted by the incorporation into the project of an already existing building which, after the corresponding recycling, became a part of the development. A several storeys high frontage embraces the existing construction on Rue Marcadet. Apart from this frontage, there are also two lower parallel strips: one in the interior of the site and another on Rue Duploye which is set back from the pavement allowing small private gardens looking onto the street to be seen.
