Marlies Rohmer. Neighbourhood factory. Amsterdam. The Netherlands
Project published in Density is Home
October 29, 2012
The construction of the building is the result of a long process of consulting and reaching an agreement with the local residents who wanted to take an active part in the site planning. The project had to fit in with the limiting factors of the location which was occupied by a former kitchen factory. On the street side it was possible to build up to five storeys, while at the centre of the plot the structure could not be higher than two storeys as this would prevent light entering the interior of the block.
