Lundgaard & Tranberg: Royal Theatre. Copenhagen
March 26, 2009
The new theatre is located across from Hening Larsen's Opera, with a strip of water between them. The vocation of the public space of the building shows itself on the large wooden outer wall that surrounds it, separated from the interior by a covering of glass on three of its façades.
The interior-exterior relationship is continuous through the large transparent wall, which carries the port environment to the foyer. In opposition to the glass, dark brick is used to cover both the inner walls and the façade that faces the city.
