Les Compagnons du Devoir
September 27, 2011
Les Compagnons du Devoir have travelled around the world since the Middle Ages. When the crisis is hitting the building sector, they are still travelling around different countries to learn the traditional construction trades and live in community.
As Javier Mozas wrote in the article The hand that moves the crane, published in the book HoCo, "within this organisation most types of construction work are represented, from masonry, to metalworking or joinery, and it still conserves the mystery of medieval associations. The aspirants must take the vows of self-improvement, respect and passion; setting off on a training voyage of initiation with accommodation and work assured, which they call the Tour de France.
The images were taken in Dresden (Germany) last summer by Javier Mozas.
