Project published in a+t 39-40 Reclaim Remediate Reuse Recycle
July 28, 2014
Unit 15 of the former Madrid Matadero (Abbatoir) is an open space, with no weatherproofing elements, which is metal-framed and brick facade. The proposal was to convert it into a music studio with the criteria to not intervene on the building itself leaving it as it was before. With this in mind, the programme is distributed into several lightweight structures which perch on the land without making contact with either the facade or the roof. The intervention also has a garden which divides off the booths from the public circulation elements. In total, four areas stand out: an office area, music studios, a recording studio and a conference room. The project is designed to be taken apart leaving no trace and all the elements are easily recyclable.
