Extension work on this 19th-century house in downtown Ghent focused on creating an intermediate space between the dwelling and the outdoor space. The garden perimeter walls were doubled in some areas using fine black painted steel frames with grapevines planted between them. Between the house and the garden, a thin strip functioning as a temperature buffer was roofed over. The most exterior face comprises glass sliding doors.
