The incredibly dense 8th arrondissement (3 ,687 inhabitants/km2)* has been one of the most run-down in Paris for some time. The green areas and large facilities are far away, and most of the free area is occupied by the railway tracks. The new park joins the new network of facilities of neighbouring Basin de la Villette, the new ZAC Pajol urban plan, which is being built opposite, as well as the 04 Arts Centre opened in 2008 only a few metres away.
