The refurbishment work is based on building on top of the existing podium a structure which contains the stage and the additional spaces. Two large doors close off the installations in the winter months enabling activities to take place inside.
Both the exterior envelope and the stage area have been built using Douglasfir laminate wooden panels. The interior has been finished with beech wood laminate panel cladding. All the objects can be easily dismantled, generate zero construction waste and can be reused or recycled.
The new theatre can stage open air concerts (up to 3,500 spectators) and cinema (1,000 spectators) and has seating capacity for 200 people inside.
