The technological specialisation of facades leads one to separate these into layers which multiply in number and acquire their own individual function. This function is not only physical. In many of today's buildings, the image one has of facades does not correspond directly to the essence of the construction material.
The loss of the symbolic function of material has been replaced by the appearance of additional layers, silk screen printed, printed or stuck on, normally imported from fields unrelated to architecture.
