2NDHAND
The 2ndHAND series examines the transformation of existing buildings and environments from a contemporary standpoint: activating what already exists. In contrast to exhausted monofunctional models, it proposes open-ended processes that introduce new uses, agents and modes of management. These transformations embrace ambiguity, fragmentation and the loss of coherence as intrinsic to the project.
Far from restoration-driven approaches, 2ndHAND advances interventions that acknowledge the past without being bound by it, taking change as a driving force. The project thus shifts from form to process, understood as a collective practice.
