Transporting earth and rubble is one of the least sustainable moments in any intervention. Re- sing this waste material as a construction element avoids transportation and dumping, while at the same time offering ways to redefine the landscape of the space in a more cost-effective manner. Earthworks of nearby sites might also be used to achieve the same aims.
While the renovation work of the embankment was ongoing a plan was drawn up to minimize the impact on the run-off and the bike path was re-routed so it could remain open.
