Like the other cities in the Sun Belt, Houston attracts the attention of different immigrant flows. The city, until very recently a paradigm of suburban sprawl, is now paying close attention to the lands which separate its centre from the peripheral neighbourhoods, much closer and better linked. The project aims to recover the wastelands under the infrastructures and give them a practical use whilst at the same time regulating the problem of the periodical fl oods suffered by the city.
The project gives 9.3 ha of land back to the city. Houston gains thus a new park which brings on new vitality to the downtown.
