Along the river Havel chain of lakes and waterways the former industrial quarters of Berlin- Spandau are in the course of urban reconfiguration. While the many waterfront sites in the vast area have been converted to residential developments, the evolvement of the inland sites is following at a more careful pace. The branch canal is part of the historic industrial structures where much of the former industrial structure and charm remains.
