Coll-Leclerc. TMB Park. Barcelona. Spain

Coll-Leclerc. TMB Park. Barcelona. Spain

The park above the Horta depot, more than just a green area, is a great open space similar to the plaza of Güell Park. It has a thick, hollow construction and therefore a relationship between height and depth exists which connects it to the first Giacometti sculptures. It is a 90 degree rotation, an overhang of the facade on deck. The facade is the deck and the deck is the facade.

The second operation is the change of scale which will serves us as reinforcement for ambiguity, turning the deck over the depot into large scuppers which will collect rain water. There are two operating principles involved, the rotation of the vertical axis and the change of scale, applied on a park which is a game board. The rules or restrictions that determine the design are a maximum overload of 2,000 kg/m2, a drainage register every 40 metres, the minimal flow of water (20,000 m2) and its situation as an urban border, being the entrance to Parque de Collserola.

The park is a great drainage and water flow machine. It separates water into different shallow channels and deeper drains. The artificiality of the location, a park over a deck and the outer limit of an urban area, is reflected in funnels (shallow water) whereas its naturalness (the entrance of Collserola) is reflected in the rough connecting areas (deep water).
