VIDEO. Steven Holl explains on site the design concept of Sliced Porosity block

February 25, 2013

Author of the video: Steven Holl Architects

Sixteen of the 100 largest urban agglomerations in the world are in China and Chengdu occupies the 67th position (demographia.com, 2009). Steven Holl’s third building, takes up the investigation begun with the project Linked Hybrid in Beijing. Now, five towers sculpted by the angles of solar inclination stand over a commercial base with a practicable public roof, a plaza sheltered from the hectic avenue. This time, the residential programme is enriched with a wide variety of commercial uses, a hotel and offices. Again, a variety of public uses connects towers on the seventh and eighth floors, interrupting the independence of the volumes fueled by the energy of the subsoil.

Project published in the book This is Hybrid.
