The user has become a developer and a manager of the city voids through spontaneous appropriation, maintenance and the organization of activities. In professionally designed complex spaces user participation is equally necessary from the early stages of the project, through consensus platforms regarding the programme.

Local residents were invited to propose the furniture elements, from their home countries, that they would like to see installed in the new space. Adverts were placed in the local press, a specific web site was created and several meetings were held.
