Managing earthworks. Recycled landscape

Photos: Dragor Luftfoto, TOPOTEK1 & BIG, Javier Mozas

Transporting earth and rubble is one of the least sustainable moments in any intervention. Re-using this waste material as a construction element avoids transportation and dumping, while at the same time offering ways to redefine the landscape of the space in a more cost-effective manner. Earthworks of nearby sites might also be used to achieve the same aims.

The earth from the excavations for a games court is used to create the manmade landscape of lowmounds in the children’s park section.
