Creating microclimates. Planting hardy species, pergolas and fountains

It is vital that the outdoor spaces are comfortable and that they can be used at any time of the year. Adapting public space to a harsh climate rewards any investment made with the presence of users all year round and enables the occupancy rhythms and inertias of collective space which cities are meant to have depending on their geographical location to be shifted.

350 new European nettle trees and five plane trees have been planted due to their ease of conservation in the Seville climate and these add to the existing trees to offer shade. The pergolas shelter the terraces from the sun and the fountains cool down the atmosphere.
