Selecting a theme helps to give an identity to public spaces which are all too often struggling against the harshness of some unwelcoming environments. Recreating an ambience related to the past of the location and its context or importing far-off atmospheres enables the place to be dealt with in a unified way and to base the choice of materials, furniture or the layout of the space on this decision.

The finish on the ramps and stairs recreates the image of the gully areas which border the banks of the creek. The walls have been finished with broken panels made from local basalt stone and the protective barriers are built from galvanized steel uprights and perforated COR-TEN steel panels.
