Gigon / Guyer. Transformation of the Löwerbräu site. Zurich. Switzerland
a+t - October 10, 2010. 16:00

Less than a kilometre away from Toni Areal’s project, another obsolete factory in the Zurich West district is to be remodelled. This project goes along with the nearby Prime tower, which the authors have designed on the grounds of the Maag factory. In this intervention, the former brewery will become part of the circuit of new centres of activity that are turning this former industrial neighbourhood into the cultural and commercial centre of the city. The existing structure will be completed with new buildings for housing, offices and a cultural centre. The added elements will be combined transparently with the older elements, adding the shine of the glazed ceramic cladding to the matt surfaces of the existing facades.
