Europan 12 is entitled The adaptable city. If you are looking for inspiration, we are going to list some projects that contribute to Europan's adaptable and dense city in the coming days.

a+t research group carried out an exhaustive analysis in the publication Dbook on collective housing’s contribution to the dense city covering 64 projects. Based on indicators such as floor area ratio, population density, building volumes, heights and uses, a comparative analysis giving examples of dense living was attained. With this forthcoming series of posts we would like to show some of the most significant examples contained in the book.

We would like to share the article titled Megatrend that Architzer, the online community of architects, sent us. It was written by Samuel Medina, from New York, and it deals with many of the concerns that a+t publications are about.

The program of this mixed-use centre is divided in four blocks: block 1 with four towers containing higher standard living; block 2 with three lower towers for the eco-hotel and apartments with halftime hotel service; block 3 with three volumes for a gallery and block 4 with four boxes for an art movie cinema.

The renovation of part of the block of the former Boucicaut hospital is implemented in these two mixed-use buildings finished in 2009.

The main pedestrianised street in Miami Beach awaits the arrival of this multi-purpose complex. Surrounded by the largest collection of Art Deco buildings in the world, a series of overlapping trays are connected by a circuit of ramps for cars. This car access will allow the building to be toured and to access homes and businesses that are in its path.

This operation of creating a sponge effect on the fabric of the 11th arrondissement has allowed the opening of a 5,000 m2 public gardens on the site of municipal land. At one end of the site an apartment block with a nursery on the ground floor has been built.
