Lobres depends on the nearby town of Salobreña, where most of the facilities and municipal services are located. The new public swimming pool is built on a site in the town centre and will take over from the town square when the sun gets hot in the summer months.

The pine wood forests on the beach front were planted to protect the crops from the salt water environment. Nevertheless the intensive urbanization of the Mediterranean coast did away with a great deal of these spaces.
